About this place
Perched on the 2th floor of a building in Nakameguro, Nomikuiya Gin is an izakaya where you can settle in with thoughtfully composed pub fare and a drink. The dining room has a calm atmosphere, complete with table seating as well as counter seats at the bar, making it an easy stop for a quiet evening drink on your own.
Open the menu to find a seafood lineup that includes tuna, amberjack, whelk, red sea bream, salmon, and flounder, all of which can also be ordered as an assorted sashimi platter. Alongside these raw cuts are comforting, slow-simmered pub classics such as meat tofu, simmered beef offal motsuni, and braised beef sinew. Warm dishes well-suited to drinking round out the selection, from diner-favorite tamagoyaki rolled omelet and broth-infused dashimaki tamago to pork and eggplant stir-fried with miso.
The small-plate choices extend naturally to seafood bites fried or grilled to pair with beer and other drinks, including milt in ponzu, lightly charred dried firefly squid, deep-fried greeneyes (mehikari), and breaded horse mackerel fillets. For a more substantial finish, carb-focused options include garlic fried rice, lettuce fried rice, and comforting bowls of ochazuke steeped with tea or dashi, offered with a choice of pickled plum or salmon.
Dinner service runs from 17:00 in the evening until 23:00, with regular closures on Sundays. The interior is completely non-smoking, reservations are accepted, and major credit cards are taken at checkout.
